Five Question Friday

1. What is on your Summer 2013 Bucket List?
Take the kids at least every other weekend to the "farm", take the kids on a hike, go to the Apple Festival, take kids apple picking (at the end of August), watch fireworks at the town's local summer festival. That's about it... we're dreaming big I tell you!

2. What is the most useless item on your child's back to school list?
Well, we don't have a list considering my kids are under 3 and we are going to home school..... so I guess a back to school list in itself would be useless!

3. What is one reality TV show that makes no sense to you?
Oh gosh, there are so many that fit into that category.... Jersey Shore, Big Brother, Real World, The Kardashians... etc etc etc

4. What is one movie you can watch over and over again? Why?
If I don't answer this honestly my husband will make it known anyways... the Twilight series. No shame! The movies really ARE NOT that great, but I just love seeing books come to life, and call me crazy but I actually enjoyed the books. No, I'm not a crazed fan, but I did enjoy them. I could also watch The Notebook, Knocked Up, and Juno over and over and over..... AND Harry Potter ;-)

5. What's your favorite back to school tradition?
We didn't ever really have back to school traditions... we always went to camp for the summer, mom bought our supplies and then we started school. I always wanted to get new clothes for each school year, I though EVERYONE just HAD to get new clothes. I guess that was me just wanting to fit in, but now that I'm adult and have children.... I'm glad I didn't fit in!

Five Question Friday

1. What is your best secret cleaning tip?
Wow.... um I don't think I really have one to be honest. I'm still "learning" how to get my house clean with children in it... and I have not perfected stain removing yet either. So, I guess the best cleaning tip I can give is to use the sunshine to bleach out stains.... works GREAT for diapers

2. What is your favorite food to snack on during movie night?
J and I usually have movie nights at home after the kids go to bed for date night... when we do that we like to make appetizers. We enjoy homemade cheese fries, twice baked potatoes, wings, nachos, etc. When we do move nights with the kids, Boogie enjoys pretzels or just her regular snacks.

3. If it was up to you , what would you have named the royal baby?
Uh, well I guess I would stick to tradition. Since he was a boy I would have used Henry or Oliver. If he had been a girl I may have named her after Diana or Elizabeth.

4. If you could be any Disney character who would you choose?
Cinderella.... because Boogie adores her and it would totally make her day! Ha!

5. What's the most important part of a healthy relationship?
That's easy. Faith. You have to love Christ more than you love your partner or yourself, Christ and your relationship with Him is what makes a relationship great. ;-)

Don't forget to link up - I'll add the link up this evening when Mama M. updates the original page ;-)

Five Question Friday

Sorry I've been MIA so often lately... school is kicking my butt and any downtime I have I'm spending with Boogie or resting! Nearing the end of this pregnancy and the exhaustion has hit!

1. Did you have any homecoming traditions?
Well, that depends on what kind of homecoming we're talking about... I'm assuming you mean high school homecoming? If so, then no not really. When I was in band it was a big deal kind of... but other than that it was and still is just another day. Now church homecoming... before my home church became a little bit more 'with it' and popular it was your typical Southern Baptist small town church, and that meant homecoming consisted of good home cooking! Yummo!

2. Do you ask your spouse before spending money?
For large purchases, yes. For groceries and small splurges, no. He DOES make the money, but I manage the money ;-)

3. If you could be famous for something, what would it be?
I'd love to be a musician... even though I've put music on the back-burner since getting married and becoming an adult, it's still a huge part of my life!

4. Have you ever seriously thought you were going crazy?
Lord, yes. Becoming a parent does that sometimes! Especially on days when your child(ren) are CRAZY!

5. How do you eat your steak? Burger?
Well-done... no mooing burgers/steaks here!

4.27.2012

Five Question Friday

1. Do you make your kids finish all their food on their plates?
No, right now Boogie is at the age where she will try anything I put in front of her... so as long as she tries it I'm okay with her not eating it all.

2. Do you give an allowance?
No, Boogie is too young for that anyways. I don't even know if we will ever do that anyways. Chores around the house should be done because she lives here, not because she gets paid. Now, we may offer rewards for completing tasks throughout the week, such as a movie, dinner out with dad, or something of that sort.

3. Do you actually park your car in the garage?
Um.... we live in an apartment, we don't have a garage. If we did... then yes, we would probably use the garage.

4. What is one food you will never cook?
Fish... seafood... of any sort. Barf. Can't stand the smell.... if my kids happen to like that kind of food then they'll have to go to Red Lobster with their dad. Shew.

5. Do you have anything excited planned for the summer?
Not really... since J started with this new company in December he doesn't get any vacation time until this December.... so if we do anything fun it will be short trips during his day off to the zoo and such.

4.06.2012

Five Question Friday

1. Would you prefer having people over for dinner or going to their house?
It honestly depends on who it is... for instance, if we're having dinner with the Flint Monsters, it's just easier going to their house. We have far less kids, lmbo, to load into a car than they do. If it's our parents, sometimes it's better for them to come here so that we don't have to load Boogie into the car and have her pitch a fit when we load her back in to come home. She HATES her car seat.

2. Favorite bible verse and why?
Jeremiah 29:11... because it gives me hope that no matter what happens in my life that God has a plan for me. I may not understand His plan, but I know that He knows exactly where my life is heading, even if I don't always make the right choices or choose the right road to take.

3. What was the first concert you ever attended, and the most recent one?
My first concert was when I was 10 years old and my mom took me to see Michael W. Smith in concert... AND I got to go backstage and meet him! I was thrilled! The last concert I went too.... oh man. I don't think I've been to one since Justin and I started dating actually... so it was probably a Christian concert and Xtreme Winter my senior year in high school. I want to say Barlow Girl was there... but other than that I can't remember.

4. The year is 2025. What are you doing, and what have you done?
In the year 2025 I will be 37 years old, I will have had 4 kids and Boogie will be 15 (yikes!). I hope to still be a stay at home mom, home-schooling my kids and taking them on grand adventures :) Maybe by then I will be a doula and a lactation consultant!

5. What's your favorite Easter treat?
Honestly? Ham. I love ham... too bad we're not having a ham this year... darn it!

3.16.2012

Five Question Friday

1. Will you run to the store or to pick up a kid looking a mess?
Kind of! I do pull my hair up and put on more suitable clothing... I usually wear nursing tanks and pajama shorts that would NOT be appropriate for the public. Not that they're revealing or anything, just too short and revealing for me!

2. Do you finish a book if it's boring or you don't like it?
Yes, I always finish my books!

3. Beach or mountain vacations?
Both! Even though we live in the mountains it's always nice to take last minute or short weekend trips to Gatlinburg. Longer vacations I prefer going to the beach!

4. What thing/event says "winter will end and spring is around the corner" to you?
  Daffodils, tulips, and violets!

5. Would you prefer couples or family vacation?
Family. FAMILY. Family! I much prefer spending time with J AND Boogie, vacations just aren't as fun with my girl!

3.09.2012

Five Question Friday

**FYI - we are moving this coming week so I will be totally MIA for about 2 weeks. I'm going to try to at least do FQF, but we'll see. Might not have internet hooked up next Friday.**

1. Are you looking forward to the time change this weekend?
Actually, yes! It really won't affect me or Boogie that much, especially since lately she's been going to bed later than usual and waking up later than usual. It might just put her back on her normal schedule lol! It also means more sunshine to enjoy in the evenings and SPRING!

2. Are you getting a new iPad/do you want an iPad?
I wish! I want to save up for one to use for homeschooling, there are some amazing apps to use for school and development :-D

3. If money was not a problem, what is the one thing you would splurge on?
My dream house.

4. How did you and Mr. meet?
We actually went to school together and then re-connected via Myspace!

5. Summer is right around the corner. Bikini or one piece?
LMBO! Right... I'll be sporting a one piece and STILL would even if I had abs of steel. Thank you, VERY much! ;-)

3.02.2012

Five Question Friday

1. Where is your favorite vacation spot and why?
I really want to say the beach... but I haven't been there with Boogie yet so I may NOT like it with a small child, who knows? So, I think right now my favorite spot would be Gatlinburg, TN. It's close enough that it's not absolute torture to ride in the car with a kid who hates her carseat, and there's lots to do to stay busy!

2. What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
Pinterest, oh Pinterest.... how I love thee!

3. What is your favorite fashion trend right now? Or in the past?
I really love sweater dresses with leggings and boots... not sure if that's "in"... I don't really keep up with fashion. I wear what I like ;-) For Boogie, I love putting her in tights, dresses or skirts and her cowboy boots. :-D

4. What are your spring break plans?
Spring Break for me is any other week really... although my mom is a teacher and will be off so hopefully we will get to spend some time with "Mamaw!" AND, hopefully make a trip to Ohio to see her side of the family.... I'm excited and dreading taking Boogie. 6 hours in her carseat... ugh.

5. What baby names do you hate?
Stupid names.... you know names like Snow, Bear, Dude... why would you name your kid something like that? or Neaveh... yea, Heaven backwards. That one just annoys me.

2.24.2012

Five Question Friday

1. What's your favorite way to spend down time (alone or with a significant other)?
Alone time? What's that?! No really... I usually read, or watch movies. And I do that alone or with J... here lately we've been going to bed after Boogie goes down and just reading. We're really exciting.

2. Are you the kind of person that wants things more as soon as you know you can't have it?
Unfortunately, yes.

3. If you were given $1000 to spend on yourself, what would you buy?
LMBO, but what if the things I want for myself are technically for Boogie too? Because I really want a new glider rocker to rock Boogie in... so technically while it's for her it's for my back more... right? And I want an iPad.... but I want it to have fun preschool learning games and interactive books for Boogie.... and I'm already getting a bunch of new carriers for ME (coughBoogiecough).... my world just revolves around my kid. Sorry!

4. Do you ever go out to eat by yourself?
When am I ever by myself? There's always at least Boogie with me!

5. What company would you want to do a blog review for?
Apple. Please, and thank you.

2.10.2012

Five Question Friday

1. How often do you shave your legs in the winter?
Before I got pregnant I shaved them religiously... when I got pregnant I couldn't reach my legs in the winter.... and when I became a mother I gave up finding time to do it. So I shave them when I can... it's not really a priority lol. Thankfully my husband loves me either way ;-)

2. Valentine's Day Cards for your spouse: funny or romantic?
Funny!

3. What are you most looking forward to about spring?
Being able to walk down to the park with Elah... it sucks being trapped in the house all the time.

4. What's your favorite way to pamper yourself?
A cup of coffee or hot cocoa and a good book!

5. Does your tax return go into savings or do you spend it instantly?
This year half went into savings and half went towards a few bills, a few things we needed, and a few things we wanted... and of course a few things for our girl :)

2.03.2012

Five Question Friday

1. What have you done recently that you are proud of?
I've started baking and cooking a LOT more. I've really gotten into it and started trying new things... not everything turns out right but I'm learning and LOVING it!

2. What is your favorite way to workout? Or if you don't workout , what are you wanting to try?
I'm beyond frustrated with trying to workout right now. It's next to impossible with a toddling 13 month old and in an apartment building! With Boogie around she climbs up my legs and whines and cries until I stop and pay attention to her. Then when she's napping I can't be too loud and then when she goes to bed I can't (at least I am respectful enough not to) disturb our neighbors downstairs! I do however really enjoying walking, this past year J, Boogie and I have walked all over downtown! Today I put Boogie in the Ergo and we walked down to the school to hang out with mom and the kiddos! So at least when it's pretty I can do SOMETHING active!

3. If you knew your best friend was cheating on their spouse would you tell?
Yes, without a doubt I would. I would hope that if the tables were turned that my friend would do the same for me, I can't imagine how humiliating it would be for my friend to know and me NOT to know!

4. If you could afford a live-in maid or nanny would you have one?
Hmmm... possibly a maid, but I don't know about a live-in one. I do think it would be a nice treat to have something like Merry Maids come in and do a deep clean 1-2 times a year!

5. Do you stress out about birthdays (specifically the age) or do you enjoy them?
If I had gone way overboard with Elah's birthday I think I would have been way stressed, but we decided to keep it simple. I was a little stressed about getting the decor done, but it was a LOT of fun! I look forward to planning future birthdays for my girl and her future siblings!

1.27.2012

Five Question Friday

1. Do you swim in the winter?
Uh... no.

2. Do you love or hate winter?
This winter? Love it... hasn't snowed enough to annoy me... past few winters? HATED. I'm not a fan of snow, or being snowed in.

3. Do you put makeup/actual clothes on when you know you're going to be home all day with just family?
Nope... why bother? I'd just be dirtying up more clothes for me to wash later... Boogie gets dressed or runs around in a diaper, but that's usually because she got food all over her pj's or she pee'd through a diaper!

4. How old were you when you had your first alcoholic beverage?
If you know me... then you can answer this question. I think it's pretty obvious.

5. How many ill calls in a 12 month period do you think are acceptable?
As in calling in to work sick? Well... none... because if I can't call in sick neither should you. :-p

1.20.2012

Five Question Friday

1. Where do you hide the really good snacks?
I don't... why hide them? My daughter doesn't get into the kitchen and the snacks are for everyone.

2. Do you keep your vehicle clean?
We try... but it always seems that clothing, toys, food wrappers, junk mail, etc ends up piling up. It's clean right now though!

3. Have you ever been to Vegas?
Nope, and I don't really have any need/want to go either.

4. Warm room light blankets or cold room warm snuggly blankets?
Cold room with warm snuggly blankets. Although I've kept it a bit warmer lately because Elah has been getting cold and she doesn't like sleeping with a blanket.

5. What is the worst airplane/flying experience you've ever had?
Never been in a plane... nor have I ever flown.

1.13.2012

Five Question Friday

This week's FQF is being hosted by Kate's Life.

1. What's the last thing you bought for yourself?
Hmmm... textbooks. Yay me...

2. What is your favorite meal on a cold winter day?
White chicken chili... but I also like it on a hot summer day. I'm weird. I'll own up too it.

3. Have you started looking at swimsuits this year, and do you buy a new one every year?
Ha... no. I have a bathing suit I bought a few months before I found out I was pregnant that I love. It's vintagey looking, and I tend to buy my suits a size bigger than I need because I don't like how SKIN freaking tight they are. It still looks fitted, but much more comfortable... and with the rouching on it I was able to wear it with my pregnant belly in 2010 :-D So obviously... I don't buy a new one every year.

4. If you could be any candy what would you be and why?
White Chocolate. It's yummy... and pastey white like me.

5. What are you most passionate about?
Oh man! Motherhood... and all it entails. Particularly breastfeeding, babywearing, etc.

1.06.2012

Five Question Friday

1. What is the weather like where you are and do you like it?
Today was BEAUTIFUL. Long sleeves and jeans were all we needed! But it's January... and winter isn't over yet. So honestly I just want to get the cold yucky wet stuff out of the way and move on to spring! That means it needs to snow, melt... and be spring. Ok?

2. When you're sick what do you seek comfort from?
Sleep. Water. Reality TV.

3. What do you need to do before the end of the month?
Pay rent. Oh joy!

4. Have you ever served on a jury?
No... nor have I been called... knock on wood.

5. If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
An eagle. Today is one of the days that I just want to soar above the clouds so I can be closer to God and further away from here. It's been a rough day!

12.30.2011

Five Question Friday

1. What's the oldest piece of clothing in your closet?
Hmmm... well I just bagged up a heck of a lot of old clothes for a yard sale... so now I'd have to say probably my black dress. Bought it for a funeral in high school.

2. How many random blog readers have you met?
Like in person? The only ones I have "met" I already knew in person.

3. Do you let your kids stay up until midnight on New Year's Eve?
Later, LATER, on down the road sure! Right now... heck no. Elah's sleep schedule is crappy as it is! No rocking the boat here!

4. What are the gas prices where you live?
The cheapest I saw today was $3.19. Ick.

5. What is one resolution that you know you should do but are too afraid to try?
I really want to try Weight Watchers... but I don't want to fork out the money. I know, lame, but I think about what I could use that money for elsewhere, and it's just not something I want to spend money on. I do however I want to lose at least 15lbs before getting pregnant, I'm hoping that once it warms up Elah and I can go on more walks again!

12.16.2011

Five Question Friday

1. What's the best Christmas present you've ever received?
Well, even though Boogie was born 3 days after Christmas I of course have to say her! As for anything else... I'd have to say Wilbur. Don't roll your eyes mom! I got Wilbur in the first grade, he's a big grey bear with a burgundy bow. I loved him, I used him as a pillow, I hugged him when I was sleeping... and now unfortunately he's in a bag at my inlaws house in their storage building... so now he smells like gas. Ugh. So much for sharing him with Boogie right?

2. Worst/Funniest White Elephant gift ever received?
I have never participated in a White Elephant gift exchange... don't really have any desire to either!

3. Is your Christmas tree plain and simple (white lights and matching ornaments) or is it wild and crazy (colored lights with lots of ornaments collected over the years)?
Since mine and J's first Christmas together we've had pretty matchy match trees with color coordinating lights, ornaments and decor.... this year we decided to just put up some colored lights and start putting up our favorites and hope to add new ornaments each year! Boogie even made her own ornament this year... which I'll share as soon as MOM SPRAYS THE CLEAR COAT ON IT! Was that a subtle hint or what?

4. "How" do you iron your clothes? The old fashioned iron/ironing board way, the shower, back in the dryer, etc.
LMBO... I own an iron and an ironing board.... and I think I've used it twice. So, if something is wrinkled we either wear it wrinkled or it goes in the dryer. I may look a little frumpy sometimes, but at this time in my life my main concern is that Boogie is dressed, looking cute, and her bag is packed... and as long as I'm dressed we're good!

5. How much baking do you do for Christmas and what are your "must make" items?
Ha. I'm not much of a baker. If you want a baker go see Christa! I mean.. sometimes I bake. A few weeks ago I baked like 6 things in one week, that's more baking then I've done in 2 years.
At Christmas I tend to make the appetizers, the sides... and I eat the baked goodies

12.09.2011

Five Question Friday

1. What is your favorite Christmas cookie?
Oh man... Panera Bread makes these amazing chocolate crackle peppermint cookies.... heavenly!

2. What's your favorite holiday movie and why?
Nightmare Before Christmas... it's just always been one of my favorites! Want to know my least favorite? It just so happens to be J's favorite... and he watches it over and over and over.... The Christmas Story. You'll shoot your eye out!

3. Is there a gift you bought for your kid(s) that you wish you hadn't after they opened it?
Boogie has yet to open a present from us seeing as this is her first Christmas and almost her first birthday (ay yi yi!). But I doubt I'll have this issue... we'll just have to see!

4. What is the messiest room in your house right at this moment?
The kitchen. I am not a dishwasher. Nope. I have one though... his name is J. However, his work schedule is crazy hectic right now, so I think I might have to suck it up and do dishes tomorrow. Oh woe is me!

5. What is the furthest you have driven for the holidays?
About 8 hours to Ohio to visit my mom's family... it's been a LONG time since we've been up there for Christmas though! Luckily both mine and J's immediate family live close by, so there won't be more than about 5 minutes of traveling this year!

12.02.2011

Five Question Friday

1. What is your favorite Christmas decoration in your house?
At the moment it's Boogie's Veggie Tale nativity scene... how can it not be my favorite when it doubles as a decoration AND a toy??!!

2. Do you finish your Christmas shopping early or are you a last minute type?
We are DONE. So we get our gifts early... I'm even contemplating starting in January next year... hello after Christmas sales!

3. When do you turn your heat on?
When it gets cold... ours cuts on automatically at a certain temp. I think I have it set on 68 during the day and 72 at night. It gets pretty cold in our apartment otherwise!

4. Do you ever wish your blog was private?
I do. Some days I want to vent about certain events, people, things... but I can't be honest and as truthful as I want because those certain people might read it!

5. Do you put deodorant on before or after you put on your shirt?
Before.

11.25.2011

Five Question Friday

1. Is there a special dish you prepare that you are famous for?
According to my husband... Broccoli Cheese Casserole (courtesy of The Pioneer Woman... that woman can COOK!)

2. Are you (did you) go Black Friday shopping?
Heck no. No. No. And no again. I'll pass, really. If I had any desire to snag any deals I'd do so online!

3. What are your strangest holiday traditions?
I don't know if any of our traditions are strange... we put our tree up on Thanksgiving (with the exception of last year and this year.... think huge and pregnant and wanted it DONE last year... and too much going on this year, so we put it up last week instead), we buy a Christmas book to read on Christmas Eve every year... and we get Christmas pj's. None of those are weird... lol.

4. Pecan or pumpkin pie?
Pumpkin.

5. When will you put up your Christmas tree?
We put it up last weekend! Our tradition, as I stated before, is to do so on Thanksgiving, but we had too much going on! So it's up, and gated off so that Boogie can't touch it, LMBO!
