24 weeks!

I’m 24 weeks today! I can’t believe it! This pregnancy is going by so fast and that means it just under (or hopefully NOT over!) 16 weeks we’ll get to meet Elah! I can’t wait! At the moment she is doing cartwheels, so she must be pretty excited too!
Tonight we invited my inlaws and Justin’s nanny over for dinner, I made beef stew in the crock pot, and we had cornbread and salad with it… sooo yummy! Ever since then Elah has been incredibly active, so she must like momma’s cooking :)
We’ve got lots of errands and such to get done this week AND we will be celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary! We got married on September 15, 2007, and have been together since February 15, 2006. Time flies… it’s incredibly scary and exhilarating but it just means we’re doing something right I guess!
We’re planning on buying my rocker/glider set this week, so I’m really excited about that, and I also need to buy a few more maternity tops and pants. I have been able to wear some of my pre-pregnancy clothes, but they are slowly getting to small. Jeans are too tight, shirts are too short… and let’s not even start talking about my bras! Eek! Luckily mom was kind enough to buy me a few to get me started! LOL!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend, and please remember to pause and pray for the families and friends who lost loved ones on September 11th, 9 years ago. It’s a day we’ll never forget.

School

School SUCKS while your pregnant! I can't concentrate. I honestly don't even CARE about my classes. However... I know that I have to get it done. Justin is going to take the Dietary Manager Certification Course this winter to get a higher paying job (which he's totally stoked about), which means I may be able to stay at home with Elah and our future children. That's my DREAM! Even so, I still want my degree, so I'm determined to finish, because someday, when all of my children are in school I can start teaching! Ugh, so prayers would be great. I think this semester is bad, I can't imagine how much harder Spring Semester will be with my beautiful little girl in my arms!

Things NOT to Say to a Pregnant Woman!

My January Birth Board started a post on this and thought it was funny.... so thought I'd share with you! BTW, these are all things that someone has actually said to women on this board....

"Is this a good thing or a bad thing?"

"Congrats... I guess!"

"Should you really be eating/drinking/doing that?"

"How much weight have you gained?" followed by a disapproving look

"Can you even afford a baby?"

"Now you'll never be able to do what you want to do!"

"Are you STILL pregnant?"

"Wow, you're HUGE!"

"I was a lot bigger/smaller than you at [insert how far along you are]"

"What are you having?" asked at 8 weeks or less

"I hope this wasn't planned!"

"I hope this WAS planned!"

"Are you sure it's not twins?"

"Are you sure your pregnant?"

"Are you sure your baby is ok?"

"You have to find out what the sex of the baby is... and if you don't, you should have the doctor call me so I'll know!"

"You shouldn't name the baby [insert your child's name], you should name it [insert name of person talking to you]"

"You don't look sick at all, did you have a miscarriage?"

"Stop being pregnant paranoid, I did that when I was pregnant and my child turned out fine!"

"I smoked/drank/etc while pregnant and my baby turned out perfect!"

"I can't believe you won't tell ME what you're having! I need to know! You're ruining everything!"

"Well you definately have the hips to have a big baby"

"My baby is going to be so spoiled. " said by someone other than the person actually carrying the baby

"Who's the father?"

"Are you going to keep it?"

"Was it planned?"

"You're pregnant? You don't look any different."

"You'll probably miscarry... everyone miscarries a baby atleast once."

"Are you even old enough to have a baby?"

"Girl you are gaining WEIGHT!"

"Is this your oops baby?"

"You can't have your shower then... I won't be able to come if you have it on that day!"

"Are you going to have an abortion?"

"Awww! Have the baby on MY birthday!"

"Don't you know what that causes that?"

There were so many more... and they just got worse and worse :-\

What to Say...

What do you say to someone who doesnt ever take the time to listen? What do you say to someone who never has time to spend time with you? What do you say to someone who doesn't truly know who you are because they never took the time to find out? What do you say to someone who makes you cry more often then words are spoken? What do you say to someone who has suffered more pain then you could imagine... when really all you want to do is understand?

I sure as hell don't know. I've been trying to figure this out for as long as I can remember.

Baby, Vacation, School, Summer..... AGH!

Baby is doing great! Had to take the 3 hour fasting glucose tolerance test on Tuesday and as soon as I chugged down that nasty orange drink.... he/she was flipping and flopping and doing sumersaults! Haven't felt THAT much movement EVER! I'll be 19 weeks on Saturday, have my next prenatal appointment w/the midwives next Thursday and then the following Monday on August 16th we find out the sex and get to see our little one's spine, heart, etc.

We are planning a vacation for the first week of August to TN. We thought about taking a quick trip to the beach, but we're planning a BIG beach trip with the Flint Family next year and decided to wait for the beach until then! So we're staying at a super nice hotel we've stayed at before, and planning on having 2 date nights with dinner out and bowling or movies... and basically just hanging out. I'm also hoping Janelle can figure out a way to meet us for a day so that she and I can go shopping!!!!

School starts on August 18th, holy cow! I have to go buy my EXPENSIVE books next Wednesday, and I'm really hoping my parents will follow through and help me. The bookstore at my school provides carts and baskets, however its almost impossible to get one. And carrying all of my books and supplies I need while pregnant.... mmm not such a good idea!

Summer is almost over, thank the LORD! Next Friday is my last day and I can't WAIT!

So that was short and sweet and to the point... hehe!

18 Week Appointment

Yesterday we had our 3rd prenatal appointment to check on me and Baby Isla or Cooper! We arrived around 1:00 and luckily they got me in for labs quickly because I had to pee soooo bad! However, after getting weighed and relieving my bladder, I had to drink the glucola drink so that they could test me for gestational diabetes.... it wasn't awful but it definately wasn't pleasant! Once that was finished they took us back to an exam room where we were immediately met by the OB's student who asked basic questions and left... then we waited. And waited. And waited. An hour later a nurse came by and took me back to the lab to have my blood drawn for the glucola test.... and then I was sent back to the exam room where we proceeded to wait. And wait.... and wait. Finally another nurse came by and asked why we were still waiting... well we had still yet to see the doctor! She finally came in about an hour and a half after my scheduled appointment! She felt the baby and my uterus and baby is doing great! We got to hear the heartbeat and it was exactly 140 :) I go back to start meeting the midwives on August 12 and then we have our big ultrasound on Aug 16 :)
