Summer Blog Challenge, Day 9

Going Green with the Grizls

Day 9: Worst Cooking Disaster

In all honesty, I haven't really had a cooking disaster. I have an almost disaster though! Our first Thanksgiving as husband and wife was pretty interesting to say the least. We decided to make an entire meal all on our own and we were incredibly excited! The first thing we did was was the turkey, Justin pulled all the yucky stuff out, and we prepared to put it in a turkey bag before putting it in the pan. STUPID us thought it would be a good idea to hold the bag open over the floor and drop the turkey in... needless to say, the turkey went SPLAT on the linoleum floor! LMBO! What's worse is that instead of being practical and just picking the turkey up, re-washing it and starting over.... we called our mothers in a panic. Brilliant. In the end, everything turned out well though!

Day 8: Not including blogging, your favorite guilty pleasure.

Reading... sometimes if I find a good book it takes everything I have NOT to read it all day and coerce Elah into playing elsewhere, LOL! I love to read, and I love that my daughter is finding a love for books as well. There's nothing like diving into a new world, a different life, an interesting plot and filling your mind with fantasy, mystery, and suspense!

Day 7: Picture of Something That Makes You Happy

Please excuse my hideousness... ew.  I was sick this day, and if you can see my bump I'm 15 weeks pregnant in this picture. This is something that makes me happy... babywearing. I love love love wrapping Boogie onto my back and I am SO excited to have a new "squishy" to wrap against my chest and get constant cuddles. I don't know how you could not WANT to babywear, it's so convenient and so much easier than lugging strollers and carseats around!

Day 6: Nicknames you have and why you have them...

Throughout middle and high school I was called Shookie, lol! In 6th grade I was dubbed that by a favorite science teacher. It continued into high school and just stuck. Fortunately for me, I am now Sarah again :)

Behind

Unfortunately I am (after this post) 2 days behind in my summer blog challenge. Forgive me? My little brother had surgery Tuesday evening and between making then dinner that day, feeling like I had been run over by a bulldozer yesterday, and spending the day with my family today... I just haven't had time. Tomorrow I will get caught back up, I promise!

Summer Blog Challenge, Day 5

Going Green with the Grizls

Today's challenge is to share my short term goals this month and why I have those goals.
  • Find out the baby's gender and start getting room decor ready! Why? Because I am always overly prepared... I will be almost 19 weeks when we find out the gender, that's almost halfway through my pregnancy! When I was pregnant with Boogie I had her room ready at 33 weeks, but the decor was ready way before that. This little one won't have his/her own room yet, but a section of our room will be dedicated to Sissy or Bubby. I want to take the same time and effort we did with Boogie's room for this little one as well. I have lots of fun ideas up my sleeve!
  • Make a final decision about sleeping arrangements for Boogie. This has been really hard for me. We've decided to not co-sleep this go around, as much as I loved those all night snuggles with Boogie, and how much easier it was to nurse her that way... the fact is that nobody but Boogie slept well (and she even started not sleeping well around 8 or 9 months). And transitioning her to her crib was a nightmare... you can say what you want, I know that both ends of this argument can get nasty. This is our decision, we think it's best! Anyways, we want to use a crib after the first few months of using the co-sleeper... but that means getting Boogie out of her crib and into a toddler bed or twin size bed. Eek! I keep going back and forth and it's driving me insane!
Those are really the only goals for this month... after this month they'll start adding up though!

Summer Blog Challenge, Day 4

Going Green with the Grizls

Today's challenge... what's the meaning behind my blog name. Well, I think that's pretty self-explanatory lol! A few months ago it was "And Baby Makes Three..." because when I was pregnant with Boogie we were then a family of three! Now... there will be four. Hence the "And Then There Were Four..." title.

Summer Blog Challenge, Day 3

Going Green with the Grizls

Today's challenge is to write 15 interesting facts about myself...

  1. I am a baby wearing, cloth diapering, and breastfeeding advocate... if you get me talking about any of those topics you might as well sit down, grab a cup of coffee and take notes!
  2. I was in a Christian blues band in high school, I played guitar and sang back up for one of the greatest singers I know.... Dave Foraker. Look him up, you won't regret it!
  3. I "met" my husband at 17, got engaged at 18, married him at 19... and at 24 I'm still completely head over heels for him. (Fyi, we actually went to school together our entire lives but never really talked to each other before this!)
  4. I'm a Jesus Freak. It's actually a lot more complicated than that, but to make a grand love story short... I'm  a child of God, I adore Him, I praise Him, I ignore Him when I should listen to Him, I sin just like anyone else... but I am a follower of Christ nonetheless. Doesn't make me perfect, it's just who I am. A Jesus Freak.
  5. I used to be a singer/songwriter, but I very rarely pick up my guitar anymore. Have you ever tried playing a guitar with a toddler crawling all over you? It's not easy!
  6. I have an addiction to owls. They're adorable... and my poor daughter is surrounded by toys, clothes, blankets, room decor, etc with owls on them! Sorry Boogie!
  7. When I "grow up" (because really... most days I don't feel like a grown up) I want to be a doula and a lactation consultant.
  8. I have had some major fashion disasters in my lifetime... went through a goth/punk/weird tomboy stage in high school, then a hippy/tye-dye shirt/flowy skirt stage the first 2 years I was with Justin... and now I wear what's comfortable. Sometimes that's still my flowy hippy skirts (although they are pretty flipping fantastic when you're pregnant), but I'm more of a jeans and t-shirt kind of mom now.
  9. I'm a size 16 girl... even while I'm pregnant (because I'm a freak of nature and lose weight instead of gain weight... how does that even happen?) and I'm really comfortable with that. I like my curves, I like who I am... and my husband loves me as I am. Sure... I have flaws that I'd love to change, but that's not one of them I would change drastically.
  10. I love to read. I've read 4 books just this week... seriously. I'm a book nerd.
  11. My favorite time of day is after Boogie's nap when all she wants is for mommy to hold her close and watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse while she wakes up a little better. I get more snuggles and kisses in those few moments than any other time of the day!
  12. Despite being horribly sick with Boogie and already feeling like I have a bowling ball sitting in my crotch (sorry) this go around... I love being pregnant. I love feeling movements, I love that in this short 9 months that the baby is ALL mine... I'm the only one who can feel this baby, who feeds this baby, etc. It's wonderful.
  13. I'm going to be a home school mom... call me crazy, but I'm pretty excited about it.
  14. My home is covered in photographs... I love walking into every room and having pictures of my daughter and husband to stare at. So many memories, so little wall space!
  15. I don't have many friends... really right now, I might have 2. Sometimes it bums me out, but other times, like lately... I'm glad. I'd rather focus on my children then whether or not someone cares to keep me around.

Summer Blog Challenge, Day 1

Going Green with the Grizls

Alright, so here we are. First day (at least for the next 50 minutes or so) of the challenge. I have decided to do this challenge so that I can stay caught up with this blog! I love blog challenges, I think they're a great way to get to know fellow bloggers, mommies, and wives all over the country... or possibly the world! I also love that I took so much time to document my pregnancy with Boogie, and I'd like to do the same for this one as well. What better way than a 90 day challenge (although the button says til August, this challenge is now going through September!) So there you have it.
