Feeling Out of Sorts

As the title says... I'm just feeling all out of sorts today. Boogie is inching closer and closer to two years old and the closer she gets to the terrible twos the naughtier and more mischievous she becomes. Today she is driving me INSANE. I'm at a complete loss as to what I am supposed to do with her. I refuse to be a parent who spanks her children... say what you want, but I think it's wrong. Time outs seem to work most of the time, but when she's in the mood she is in today, time outs just make her laugh. Which in turn just makes me even more frustrated then I already was!

Trying to get my endless amount of homework done today has been absolutely horrendous. I've resorted to watching movies ALL DAY. I never do that with her unless we're not feeling well. I hate doing that. I hate using the TV as a "babysitter" as many would call it. I know she doesn't understand why mommy is reading and taking notes and on the computer all the time, so I try to take breaks (like I am now... although she decided this time she didn't want to play with mommy... hence this blog post) and spend one on one time with her.

The words "stop" and "no" are completely pointless around here. They make no difference to her if she is told that. Sitting her in timeout and explaining with positive words why she shouldn't do something is pointless because she just giggles and laughs and says "mommy.... mommy.... mommy." She got in trouble for hitting me today, that was the only time she cried over getting in trouble. However, I was in tears because she really did HURT me and I think that upset her more than actually being put in timeout and being told why hitting is something we do not do.

So I've got all of these toddler things going on, endless amounts of schoolwork to be done... the house is an absolute disaster because frankly at the moment I don't have time. Thankfully J is wonderful and he understands and tries to help. And really, I'm just feeling sorry for myself. I'm missing my friends who just aren't around anymore, I'm missing my clean house that I kept up with all summer, I'm tired of being stuck inside with this crazy monster child of mine (I say that in love, I call her my monster all of the time), and I'm over being pregnant. Bubby's due date needs to just come on faster than it already has because then I'll be pretty much done with classes, we'll be closer to Christmas, and the faster we get done with Boogie's 2nd birthday then the closer we will be to being done with these terrible twos. I hope. I don't like rushing life, it goes by fast enough as it is... but I'm tired. And frustrated. And a little lonely. I miss my husband being home more. I miss cool weather without mosquitoes attacking, and I miss the ease of toting Boogie around in a wrap when I want to go out... which is still possible, but not as comfortable the larger Bubby gets.

And that's it really. I just needed to vent and escape homework for 10 minutes. On a more positive note, I checked my mailbox around lunchtime and my coupons for the UnReal Candy arrived! I headed to CVS to get the candy and they were on sale for 2 for $2, so I got all 5 flavors to try and review! I even have some leftover coupons, so we'll see if I decide to keep them or give them away ;-)

Summer Blog Challenge, Day 19

Day 19: Something You're Proud of From the Last Few Days

Not really the last FEW days, but in the past week Boogie started sleeping in her big girl bed, and she's doing SO well! I can't believe how easy the transition was! She's growing so fast and before we know it she will be a big sister!

Big Girl

Where did my baby go? My baby has become a big girl, she spent her first night in her big girl bed last night! She even SLEPT IN. That NEVER EVER EVER happens when her daddy isn't home! She even woke up HAPPY. No more screaming and crying for mommy to rescue her, now she gets up, smiles, and plays! It's amazing! She's growing into such a big girl, she continues to astonish me with how smart she is, and I can't believe how far she has come from her tiny 5lb 13oz newborn self! Her vocabulary has continued to explode, she can identify almost all of her body parts (eyes, nose, hair, head, ears, mouth, teeth, tongue, chin, neck, cheeks, face, arm, elbow, belly, etc etc etc), she knows many animals and what sounds they make, and much much more! The one thing she confuses right now is up and down, when she wants up she says 'down!', when she wants down she says 'down!' LOL! So she is 'down', just can't figure out the 'up' part.

To update you on Sissy or Bubby, my nausea has completely subsided however I have had this nasty cold for 2 weeks now. I'm in the "coughing a lung out" portion which hopefully means it's heading out of my system for good soon! Not to mention that an ever growing baby pushing on mommy's bladder + coughing is NOT a good combination. Ugh! I'll be 16 weeks tomorrow, so I will update again then with a new picture. Summer Blog Challenge, Day 5

 Today's challenge is to share my short term goals this month and why I have those goals.

• Find out the baby's gender and start getting room decor ready! Why? Because I am always overly prepared... I will be almost 19 weeks when we find out the gender, that's almost halfway through my pregnancy! When I was pregnant with Boogie I had her room ready at 33 weeks, but the decor was ready way before that. This little one won't have his/her own room yet, but a section of our room will be dedicated to Sissy or Bubby. I want to take the same time and effort we did with Boogie's room for this little one as well. I have lots of fun ideas up my sleeve!
• Make a final decision about sleeping arrangements for Boogie. This has been really hard for me. We've decided to not co-sleep this go around, as much as I loved those all night snuggles with Boogie, and how much easier it was to nurse her that way... the fact is that nobody but Boogie slept well (and she even started not sleeping well around 8 or 9 months). And transitioning her to her crib was a nightmare... you can say what you want, I know that both ends of this argument can get nasty. This is our decision, we think it's best! Anyways, we want to use a crib after the first few months of using the co-sleeper... but that means getting Boogie out of her crib and into a toddler bed or twin size bed. Eek! I keep going back and forth and it's driving me insane!

Those are really the only goals for this month... after this month they'll start adding up though!

MIA.... yet again. Oops!

I've been a terrible, no-good blogger lately... sorry! Things have been hectic these past few weeks. Not much been happening but Boogie has just been weird lately. She's extra clingy, doesn't want to play... but she's not sick and as far as I can tell she's not teething. Totally weird. She's eating fine... sleeping like "normal", at least normal for HER. I honestly don't have any hopes that she will be sleeping through the night any time soon. Oh joy! She doesn't even nurse at night anymore, at least not most nights. Occasionally if I'm having a really hard time getting her back to sleep then I let her nurse, but typically she only nurses before her nap and before bedtime.


We totally missed out on any kind of Easter celebrations with Boogie. We did some finger painting the week before and ATTEMPTED to make sugar cookies, and that was an epic fail. Then Boogie was sick the weekend of Easter so we missed church and had to cancel our family get together (we invited both sets of grandparents to my mom's to celebrate Boogie's 2nd Easter). So we didn't do an egg hunt, we didn't dye eggs.... nothing. Hopefully all will be well NEXT year!


The week before Easter we did manage to get some great pics of Boogie in her Easter dress though! Woo! So.... here you go!

New Look

Thanks to my Aunt Tracee, I found a great new layout for my blog! So, I'm updating here and there, including some stuff in my pages... so bare with me while I'm "under construction"... and please pray for my Boogie, she's caught a bug and we're hoping she'll start feeling better soon!

Crazy Busy with a Crazy Toddler

Whew! These past few weeks have been a whirlwind of crazy, to say the least. J was promoted, Boogie cut a couple thousand new teeth (obviously I'm exaggerating, but it was NOT fun), we welcomed a sweet sweet little 3 month old boy into our home to play 2 days a week.... we're settling into our apartment.... getting into confrontations with our neighbors about parking spaces (yea, really. it's insane) and fighting to get the deposit back from our old apartment. Yikes! Anyways, so yes. It's been a crazy few weeks. But enough of that! Let's talk about my girl!

Boogie turned 15 months old on the 28th and we went to her 15 month check up on the 29th. She weighs 21 lbs and is 30.5 inches tall, she is coming along swimmingly :-D Her vocabulary is exploding, she astounds me on a daily basis... today she tried to say octopus but it came out more like "pictopus" lol. We are slowly transitioning into our summer clothes, although most of hers are VERY big on her. She still fits pretty well into her 18 month sizes, but the majority of her summer clothes are 24 months or 2T, however, I'm sure they will fit better in the next few months when she'll need them more! We have started working on the alphabet and naming animals, she's pretty good at naming a few animals and she can identify a few of the letters thanks to this awesome Leapfrong Fridge Magnet Phonics thing we bought. Speaking of which.... thanks to pinterest we decided to buy an oil drip pan to use as a magnet board. I also spray painted it with chalkboard paint, so it doubles as a chalk board! It's awesome! Anyways, yea, so she is working on that. She can point out a large amount of body parts (eyes, nose, ears, head, hair, etc.) and has started putting words with her signs. So in the middle of the night she knows if she says "milk, pwease.... pwetty pwetty pwease" that I can't say no. Geez. What else? She's becoming very very VERY independent. She does NOT like to hold hands, does NOT like to be held, does NOT like to be worn (although she settles down once she's comfortable), does NOT like any kind of help.... unless she says, "help?" Ay yi yi! My girl is growing up!

A Whirlwind of Blessings

This past week has been incredible. As I mentioned before we spent last week moving into a new apartment with a much better landlord... this apartment is beyond amazing. Now of course we have neighbors above us so we have to get used to the creaking of floors and such, but beyond that it is SO much better than our previous home. Boogie's room is much much bigger, we have a normal sized kitchen, a back patio with a fence... and we are finally moved in and everything is unpacked (with the exception of some decor). We love it! I'm sure you could tell from pictures of Boogie in our old apartment that her toys had overrun the living room... well in our new apartment her room is big enough to fit almost ALL of her toys, including her new kitchen! We have one shelf of toys and a few of her bigger toys in the living room, but other than that everything is in her room. It's amazing having a living room not cluttered with a multitude of toys!


If you have read my posts then you know that in December a new company took over the food services department that J works in and he got promoted to a cook's position at that time. You also know then that J has been working towards getting his certification as a CDM (certified Dietary Manager) and completed the class in December. Now we are just waiting for him to complete the exam in October. Well, this past week a position opened up for the Assistant Manager in the same department he was working in (I think the technical job name is Production Manager or something like that) so he decided to apply for it. We were hesitant to get excited because we didn't know if they would be willing to hire him without having his certification complete. We were hopeful though because it would mean significant pay increase and better benefits..... well J got the job! I'm so proud of him! He's worked so hard to get here and he has a lot more work ahead of him, but this is a step in the right direction. He's gone a lot now because of his new schedule, but like I told him last night, it won't be like this forever. Currently he works from about 8:30am-6pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and then he works 5:30am-6pm on Fridays and Saturdays. He's off Sundays and Mondays thankfully. Another exciting thing about this new job is that once his certification is complete he will have the opportunity within the company to get a CDM position, this company is spread across the East coast, so we could go anywhere!


Boogie is doing so well with all these changes we've made. She's really grown a lot in the past week and has learned more and more new words. She completely blows my mind most days with how much she learns so quickly. My favorite words she says right now is "milk, please?" and she signs it at the same time. It comes out more as "milk, pwease", but it's SO cute. Love her!
