20 Weeks!

How far along? 20 weeks

Total weight gain/loss:  Consistently losing and gaining 3lbs.... I go back and forth every other appointment

Maternity clothes? All maternity... except for my awesome pj's of course, lmbo.

Stretch marks? Mhmm.

Sleep: I sleep like the dead. Which is crazy, because normally I have a hard time falling asleep! I love it!

Best moment this week: Finished buying Bubby's newborn diaper stash! EEK!

Movement: Yes, but still not constant. Anatomy ultrasound confirmed what I thought... I yet again have an anterior placenta. Ugh!

Food cravings: Fruit, smoothies, ice, asian food.

Gender: Boy!

Labor signs: None... WAY to early for that!

Belly button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? Just wearing my wedding band right now

What I miss: Being able to cuddle Boogie without Bubby getting in the way lol!

What am I looking forward too: Spending these last 20 or so weeks with my ONLY child at the moment and enjoying what little time we have left as a family of 3! It'll never be the same again!

Weekly Wisdom: Cry. And then cry some more. My emotions are on a frenzy right now, I cry over every little thing but I'm realizing that letting those tears go REALLY DO help!

Milestones: At our ultrasound Bubby's feet were 1" long!

Bubby or Sissy?

Today was the day! We went in at 1:30pm (EST) to have our anatomy ultrasound, obviously the most important thing was to insure that our little one was growing well and healthy! Second to that, we got to find out if Bubby or Sissy is growing in my belly! I knew before the ultrasound that my placenta was anterior (AGAIN) because just like with Boogie I only have felt slight movements here and there. A student asked permission to look at the baby before the main sonographer came in so that she could practice a bit. She mainly looked at the baby's head and belly, and once the sonographer came in she helped her identify parts of our baby's brain and such. Once she finished the sonographer went ahead and finished measurements on the head and said, "Let's see what you're having". And seriously, no kidding... all she did was hover over the genitals and BAM! It was so blatantly obvious who it was... this kid is NOT shy. She didn't have to take any additional pictures to be sure.

So...

We will be welcoming Bubby into our family at the end of November! He is strong and healthy and is growing GREAT!

14 Weeks

How far along? 14 weeks! Welcome to the 2nd trimester!

Total weight gain/loss: Lost 2lbs at my last appointment (last Wednesday)

Maternity clothes? All maternity... aside from a few shirts that still fit, and skirts that will work throughout my pregnancy.

Stretch marks? Of course.... thanks to Boogie! Hopefully I won't get many more this time... but I doubt that!

Sleep: Sleeping ok. Waking up more to pee all night, waking up from CRAZY dreams, but overall getting a good night's sleep.

Best moment this week: Hearing baby's heartbeat! Wish I could have taken a picture of Boogie during the appointment... she doesn't know what to think about the midwives poking and prodding at my belly! LOL!

Movement: Yes! Not much though... if I lie VERY still in the bed, or sit very still every now and then I feel a little movement.

Food cravings: Taco salad, sour candy

Gender: To be determined on June 27.... as long as baby cooperates!

Labor signs: None... WAY to early for that!

Belly button in or out? In... too early for that too, lol!

Wedding rings on or off? On! At least at the moment... although they are getting a little tight.

What I miss: Caffeine... and at this moment, cold medicine (I don't take ANY meds aside from nausea medicine during pregnancy)

What am I looking forward too: Finding out if this baby is Bubby or Sissy!

Weekly Wisdom: Date night is FUN. LMBO!

Milestones: Baby could be sucking his/her thumb!

12 weeks! (updated with belly photo)

How far along? 12 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: I really need to check... I'm a little afraid to though!

Maternity clothes? I'm pretty much wearing only maternity pants/shirts and skirts with elastic bands. I'm showing much quicker this time, it's absolutely ridiculous!

Stretch marks? Of course.... thanks to Boogie! Hopefully I won't get many more this time... but I doubt that!

Sleep: Sleeping really well... hopefully once I "wean" off of unisom and B6 I will still sleep well. (By wean... I mean that I have to go off it slowly or it will make me sick with the sudden change in meds, hoping to do so soon and see if my morning sickness is gone... hopefully?)

Best moment this week: Ugh, this has been a rough week, not going to lie. And today was rough... didn't go well and I'll write about that in my next post.

Movement: I'm sure he/she is moving... I just can't feel it yet ;-)

Food cravings: Fruit, wings, and sour candy.

Gender: To be determined in a few weeks!

Labor signs: None... WAY to early for that!

Belly button in or out? In... too early for that too, lol!

Wedding rings on or off? On! So far.... they still fit.

What I miss: This week? CAFFEINE!

What am I looking forward too: Finding out whether this little one is a Bubby or Sissy. If it's a Sissy then we won't have ANYTHING to buy! If it's a Bubby... ugh. LOL, although I will be stoked either way, I just know I won't have to prepare as much if it's a girl ;-)

Weekly Wisdom: Cry. Cry all you want.

Milestones: Baby is learning to move his/her fingers and toes, he/she is learning to suckle with his/her mouth AND he/she is growing growing growing!

I'm going to start putting these cartoons on my posts... they are hilarious!

Overwhelmed With Blessings

I think today is the day it finally hit me that yes, I am really pregnant. When I got pregnant with Elah, and if you have followed our blog or have read the story about our journey with her, you know that it took us a great deal of time to finally conceive her. Over two and half years to be exact... it was heartbreaking, frustrating, overwhelming... so when we did finally get pregnant we were overjoyed and couldn't wait to share the news! I was on our due date board on babycenter religiously, constantly updating family and friends, etc. This time was a little different. Our intentions were to start TTC in March, after my 3rd postpartum cycle. My first was the week of Elah's first birthday, and it was VERY long cycle. I want to say it ended up being around 75 days or so. My second cycle seemed to go on forever as well and I was worried that if it didn't straighten itself out I'd have to make an appointment with the midwife and put TTC on hold. On April 3rd Elah had a rough time getting to sleep and staying asleep that night, but during the moments she was asleep I had very vivid dreams of me testing positive, holding a new baby, telling Elah she was going to be a big sister, etc. I know this was the Lord's way of saying, "SARAH! TAKE A TEST!" So I obeyed... and lo and behold, I was pregnant! I cannot even begin to tell you the shock I felt. I couldn't believe it, I thought it was too good to be true!

We made the decision to wait until our first ultrasound to announce, but I was still hesitant because in the back of my mind I kept thinking that this couldn't be real... we couldn't have gotten pregnant so quickly. So I talked to J about having our favorite photographer, Brandi Clemmons help us announce with some fun creative photos. I even wanted to wait until we reached the second trimester, but my sweet husband couldn't wait that long! Even after announcing I've still had trouble wrapping my mind around being pregnant again. I've struggled to accept that my little girl isn't going to be our only baby anymore, and in reality she ISN'T a baby anymore. Today however, it hit me. I am pregnant. My baby is growing, or really I should say my toddler AND my baby are growing and they are both healthy and I am overwhelmed with how incredibly blessed we are. I was so terrified that we would struggle again, and Elah would be so much older when we conceived... but my prayers were answered and my dreams came true and our little ones will be about 2 years apart. Just the way I wanted it.

I'm also amazed by how easily Elah is handling the changes... granted, she does act a little jealous some days and then there are days where she is clingy, whiny, and incredibly frustrating to deal with. But if you could see her kiss my belly, rub her hands where her baby is and say "love you!" it would melt your heart. I'm so proud of her, I'm slowly losing fear that she will struggle with a new baby in our family... I think she's going to love her baby brother and sister!

That's really all I wanted to say today... a little more actually, but I'm thrilled to say that I AM pregnant! :) Here's to 29 more weeks of being a family of THREE!

How far along? 11 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Haven't checked as of yet, but I'm assuming not much either way... haven't been able to eat much. NOTHING sounds good!

Maternity clothes? I'm wearing lots of skirts and my tighter fitting maternity pants... nothing fits right at the moment

Stretch marks? Of course.... thanks to Elah! Hopefully I won't get many more this time... but I doubt that!

Sleep: I fell asleep at 9pm last night... I can't remember the last time that happened. And Elah slept until 7, so I got a NICE long night of sleep!

Best moment this week: Elah had a GOOD day yesterday at home! She wasn't whiny or clingy, she laughed and played and cuddled! It was WONDERFUL!

Movement: I'm sure he/she is moving... I just can't feel it yet ;-)

Food cravings: Nachos and fruit

Gender: To be determined in a few weeks!

Labor signs: None... WAY to early for that!

Belly button in or out? In... too early for that too, lol!

Wedding rings on or off? On! So far.... they still fit.

What I miss: Hot hot hot baths.

What am I looking forward too: Today I'm looking forward to saying "buh-bye" to nausea.... I'm tired of feeling yucky.

Weekly Wisdom: It's OK to sit. It's OK to turn on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse to get a few minutes of peace.

Milestones: Baby is growing! He/she is the size of a lime!

Help?!

We found out we were pregnant about 5 weeks ago and I guess around that time Elah knew something was up. Ever since then she has whined and cried all day, everyday especially when Justin is at work. It is incredibly frustrating, nothing I do satisfies her. Granted, we are stuck in the house most days but I try to take Elah on walks but even that doesn't help most days. Not only is she miserable but because of the nausea I'm dealing with right now I am pretty miserable myself.

So, my question is... Have any of you dealt with this, particularly during a pregnancy? I don't know what to do for her to make her less miserable. I've resorted to her favorite TV show (Mickey mouse clubhouse) to cheer her up in the mornings because otherwise she climbs on me and presses on my stomach... Which isn't so fun when your stomach aches. Help?

New Look

Thanks to my Aunt Tracee, I found a great new layout for my blog! So, I'm updating here and there, including some stuff in my pages... so bare with me while I'm "under construction"... and please pray for my Boogie, she's caught a bug and we're hoping she'll start feeling better soon!

Crazy Busy with a Crazy Toddler

Whew! These past few weeks have been a whirlwind of crazy, to say the least. J was promoted, Boogie cut a couple thousand new teeth (obviously I'm exaggerating, but it was NOT fun), we welcomed a sweet sweet little 3 month old boy into our home to play 2 days a week.... we're settling into our apartment.... getting into confrontations with our neighbors about parking spaces (yea, really. it's insane) and fighting to get the deposit back from our old apartment. Yikes! Anyways, so yes. It's been a crazy few weeks. But enough of that! Let's talk about my girl!

Boogie turned 15 months old on the 28th and we went to her 15 month check up on the 29th. She weighs 21 lbs and is 30.5 inches tall, she is coming along swimmingly :-D Her vocabulary is exploding, she astounds me on a daily basis... today she tried to say octopus but it came out more like "pictopus" lol. We are slowly transitioning into our summer clothes, although most of hers are VERY big on her. She still fits pretty well into her 18 month sizes, but the majority of her summer clothes are 24 months or 2T, however, I'm sure they will fit better in the next few months when she'll need them more! We have started working on the alphabet and naming animals, she's pretty good at naming a few animals and she can identify a few of the letters thanks to this awesome Leapfrong Fridge Magnet Phonics thing we bought. Speaking of which.... thanks to pinterest we decided to buy an oil drip pan to use as a magnet board. I also spray painted it with chalkboard paint, so it doubles as a chalk board! It's awesome! Anyways, yea, so she is working on that. She can point out a large amount of body parts (eyes, nose, ears, head, hair, etc.) and has started putting words with her signs. So in the middle of the night she knows if she says "milk, pwease.... pwetty pwetty pwease" that I can't say no. Geez. What else? She's becoming very very VERY independent. She does NOT like to hold hands, does NOT like to be held, does NOT like to be worn (although she settles down once she's comfortable), does NOT like any kind of help.... unless she says, "help?" Ay yi yi! My girl is growing up!

Alright... enough talk. Here are some pics of our life the past few weeks.... please excuse the ginormous mess of dishes in the kitchen, I promise I washed them RIGHT after taking pictures. Really.... I did. And there are some photos of the day we spent some time with our favorite Flint Monsters!

And mobile photos... so the quality isn't as great but...

A Whirlwind of Blessings

This past week has been incredible. As I mentioned before we spent last week moving into a new apartment with a much better landlord... this apartment is beyond amazing. Now of course we have neighbors above us so we have to get used to the creaking of floors and such, but beyond that it is SO much better than our previous home. Boogie's room is much much bigger, we have a normal sized kitchen, a back patio with a fence... and we are finally moved in and everything is unpacked (with the exception of some decor). We love it! I'm sure you could tell from pictures of Boogie in our old apartment that her toys had overrun the living room... well in our new apartment her room is big enough to fit almost ALL of her toys, including her new kitchen! We have one shelf of toys and a few of her bigger toys in the living room, but other than that everything is in her room. It's amazing having a living room not cluttered with a multitude of toys!

If you have read my posts then you know that in December a new company took over the food services department that J works in and he got promoted to a cook's position at that time. You also know then that J has been working towards getting his certification as a CDM (certified Dietary Manager) and completed the class in December. Now we are just waiting for him to complete the exam in October. Well, this past week a position opened up for the Assistant Manager in the same department he was working in (I think the technical job name is Production Manager or something like that) so he decided to apply for it. We were hesitant to get excited because we didn't know if they would be willing to hire him without having his certification complete. We were hopeful though because it would mean significant pay increase and better benefits..... well J got the job! I'm so proud of him! He's worked so hard to get here and he has a lot more work ahead of him, but this is a step in the right direction. He's gone a lot now because of his new schedule, but like I told him last night, it won't be like this forever. Currently he works from about 8:30am-6pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and then he works 5:30am-6pm on Fridays and Saturdays. He's off Sundays and Mondays thankfully. Another exciting thing about this new job is that once his certification is complete he will have the opportunity within the company to get a CDM position, this company is spread across the East coast, so we could go anywhere!

Boogie is doing so well with all these changes we've made. She's really grown a lot in the past week and has learned more and more new words. She completely blows my mind most days with how much she learns so quickly. My favorite words she says right now is "milk, please?" and she signs it at the same time. It comes out more as "milk, pwease", but it's SO cute. Love her!

I will take some pics of our new apartment as soon as I can, and hopefully I'll get some pics of my girl as well. Until then.... God bless!

Where Did My Baby Go?

I've realized this week how much my little one has grown... she's no longer a baby, but a full-fledged toddler. She is walking all over the place now and most of the time does NOT want to be held. She still loves to be worn, but if you're going to just hold her on your hip she pitches a fit until you let her walk! What a booger! She is also very very very verbal, it's pretty funny hearing some of these words come out of her mouth! She can now say "love you" (which sounds more like low you), "so pretty", "shew baby", "go!", "mine", "no", "night-night" and more and more and more... she comes up with new words and two-word sentences EVERY day! Anyways... last month we had a professional photographer named Brandi Clemmons do Boogie's pictures. Check out her facebook page HERE. Boogie's photos turned out GREAT! I'm so happy with them, we'll definitely be working with Brandi again! I'll share some of the pictures after the end of this post.

Not sure if I had mentioned it yet, but we are moving on my birthday, the 15th, into a new apartment. We were going to be moving into another 2nd story apartment but one of the ground level apartments became available and we will now be getting it! Yay! That means no more lugging diaper bags, groceries, and a 22lb 1 year old up the steps! We also have a fenced in patio and garden area in the back, which will be WONDERFUL. Another apartment isn't ideal, but we will be with a much more reliable landlord (who we have rented from before) and it's still in a great location.... it will do until we can start hunting for a house of our own!

Just An Update

I haven't had much time to blog these days... I mean I've blogged more than I had been, but not as much as I would like! School is kicking my butt, I'm taking 2 sets of 8 week classes, but that doesn't mean less work. The classes are full semester courses condensed into 8 weeks, so that's double the reading and double the assignments. It's hard to keep up with all of that, chase after a WALKING (yes, walking) toddler, take care of house and home... and still manage to find time to do something for just ME. I'm doing pretty well though, one of the classes I'm taking is an American Women's History class. Very interesting so far... I especially loved all the discussions we've had about midwives.

As for Boogie, she is now a walking girl! She had been toddling a bit here and there, then all of a sudden this past week she took off! And since my last update, Boogie has learned how to safely get off the couch... so we're no longer "superman diving" into piles of blankets. We also moved the couch and armchair around so that she'd stop climbing from the couch to the chair. She fell BETWEEN them a few times and totally freaked me out. Ay yi yi! So my now 13 month old is walking, talking (she adds new words everyday, it's incredible!), and is as sassy as ever. We've gone a few days with GREAT sleep, then we go a few days with no sleep... it's an adventure for sure. But as I have said before, Boogie will figure this whole sleep thing out on her own. Tonight she's only woken up once so far, when she is comfortable enough she'll sleep the entire night through! I have faith!

As for J, he's still enjoying his job although we both wish he could have an occasional Sunday off. It's rough missing out on church for ALL of us. I hope to fix that at some point. He's looking forward to getting the study materials for his certification exam so he can start preparing, I know he'll do GREAT!

As for the entire family, we have gone back and forth about moving. The problem is that if we do move, there's always the chance that we'd have to uproot and move again if J has to find a job outside of this area. Then again, we live in an apartment that is not suitable to raise a child in... the apartment itself is fine, the neighbors not so much. They don't bother us, however living in an apartment means lots of noises, lots of doors slamming, and questionable neighbors doing... well questionable things. I'll leave it at that. One of my other issues is that Boogie can't play outside here, nor do I feel comfortable taking her outside. We need a house. With a yard. Without these neighbors. This past week I've really gone back and forth though, should we move, should we wait, should we buy another vehicle first... so a few nights ago I prayed. I had prayed about it before, but not solely for this purpose. A few hours later I was browsing Craigslist and came across a house in the county over, about 10 minutes away from here. It looked AMAZING. Below what we have budgeted out for, central heat/air, 2 bedrooms (we would prefer 3 but CAN work with 2), a lot of land, and it's been remodeled. So I immediately e-mailed the owners and we are going to see it next Wednesday! I'm trying not to get my hopes up... every time I do something falls through. But the timing has been perfect, and I spoke to the woman who owns it and she seems like a wonderful person, she was very kind and I had a nice conversation with her! I hope that if we get this place that God will work it out for J to find a job in the area. I'd love to stay here until we are ready and comfortable to purchase a home of our own!

As for me, aside from school, I'm thinking about going to a local yarn shop to take a beginner's knitting class! J is off the day that it's held every week, so this would work out GREAT! I've been trying to teach myself and it just hasn't gone so well, so hopefully this can be a fun little activity for me to do just for me. I've also thought about taking a photography class or two after this semester. I don't want to do anything professionally but I'd love to learn to take better pictures of my family and our outings. I've ALSO looked into becoming a doula, I'm actually seriously considering it. However I think it's something that I will need/want to postpone until we're done having children and I'm done nursing the youngest so that I can devote more time to this career. I'm pretty excited about everything, after a year of mommyhood I feel like I can finally take a breath and a moment for myself.

I also wanted to ask for some prayers. I'm struggling with how to deal with certain people. I don't want to go into details or anything, but I'm just struggling with whether or not I should even offer advice to certain people when asked or if I should just keep my opinions to myself. It's a tough road...

Trouble!

I have dreaded this day... the day when Boogie learned to climb. ::sigh:: In the past few days she's started walking across the length of our living room (but she still isn't walking full time) and has started climbing on the furniture. Oh joy! I thought it was just a fluke at first because she used my legs and my clothing to pull herself up... but then I moved. She can get up all by herself. She also discovered that it's great fun to leap into the armchair, which is now flush up against the couch permanently. AND she thinks it's great fun to dive off of the couch into the floor, so during the day my floor will be covered in cushy blankets. I mean, what else can I do? Reprimanding her puts her into these giggly fits! Ay yi yi! My girl is beyond rotten! So yea. Lots of milestones in a short span of time, I'm positive she'll be a full time walker by Valentine's Day if not sooner!

On a side note, we've decided to take a SHORT vacation to Gatlinburg. Our original plan was to go to Chapel Hill, see a few sites, and to visit Hannah but we will be going in October for J's certifying exam in Raleigh so we decided to not go twice. We'll be staying 2 nights, we plan on going to the Melting Pot and the aquarium and staying put in Gatlinburg the entire time. I don't want to drive all over Sevierville and Pigeon Forge and we don't need to spend any money at the outlet stores. We just want to go and relax! So that's that!

Here are a few pictures from the past few days...

Boogie's new "cheese!" face

She looks at me with those big brown eyes and I just melt...

::sigh:: My climber.

When she realized I caught her... she did this:

What A Roller Coaster...

Nothing is more frustrating than when your child won't sleep. This is something we have struggled with from the beginning. Sure, we've had our good nights, we've even had one night in the past few weeks when Boogie slept 8 hours straight (that was a WONDERFUL night)! I debated on whether I should even post this because it seems like anytime I mention sleep issues with someone (even our pediatrician) their immediate response is "Oh, just let her CIO, she'll be fine!" or "you're spoiling her by going to her when she cries" or even "stop nursing her so much and maybe she'll sleep!". No offense to anyone, but that's NOT helpful.

Last night was my confirmation that CIO doesn't work for my daughter. After sleeping for 3 hours, at 10pm Boogie woke up and I could not get her back to sleep. She pitched a full out temper tantrum. I couldn't hold her, I couldn't comfort her, so I set her in the floor and let her pitch her fit until she was done. After about 20 minutes she finally finished, laid back against me and fell asleep. Only problem was that in order to get her up I had to move her and then stand up... which of course woke her up. Since she was at least still calm, I rocked her and nursed her and praised the Lord that she fell back asleep so easily. At least I thought it was easily. The moment I laid her down her eyes popped open and she went into another screaming fit. So I went through the same cycle again. And what happened? Her eyes popped open AGAIN. I hate asking J to get up on nights when he has to work early the next morning, but after an hour of this I didn't know what else to do. So he went in and held her, she would quiet down for a few minutes and then all of a sudden she'd start screaming again! We THINK her gums were hurting her, she kept grabbing her mouth and point in it, so although I am not a fan of Tylenol we gave her some in the hopes that maybe it would help her with the pain, relax her and help her sleep. Nights like this I could care less whether I sleep, I care more that my daughter is in pain and isn't resting well! She calmed down again for about 15 minutes but then J couldn't get her to sleep... so at this point I'm getting pretty frustrated.

As a side note, my spring semester of classes started up last week and the only time I have to get my homework done (I take online classes) is in the evenings. We're talking 4-8 hours of work here EVERY night. I hadn't finished everything I needed to do, so I decided to just let Boogie run around the living room, get any energy out that she had so I could finish my homework. In the back of my mind I hoped that she would wear herself out and just lay down and go to sleep. Ha! Yea, right. At 11:00, after realizing that while playing she had basically squished every bit of urine out of her night time diaper, I changed her jammies and diaper, read her a book, prayed with her, and sang to her while rocking her. She fell asleep. But as soon as I went to move her so I could lay her down her eyes popped open! BOOGIE! So I held her and rocked her and sang "You Are My Sunshine" over and over and over. Nothing seemed to work. I tried sitting in the floor again. I tried holding her, but she just pushed me away. You could tell she was exhausted, she was constantly rubbing her eyes, pulling on her ears (Boogie has always done this when she's tired, the indicator of an ear infection for her was digging in her ears, not pulling), but she continued to pitch tantrum after tantrum. At this point, I didn't know what to do. So I put her in her crib.

When I put her in the crib she cried. Then she fussed. Then she screamed. But her crying and fussing was entirely a tantrum, so I didn't feel bad about letting her "CIO" at this point. I sat in the rocking chair and sang. The only song that has ever helped me get her to sleep is the same song that my own mom sang to me. I really should learn the rest of the lyrics though, because I only two... and they get really old after 2 hours of singing it. Boogie did everything to keep herself awake. Head-butting her bed, walking around her crib holding onto the side. Throwing herself back onto the bed (this part was a little frightening, I was afraid she was going to whack her head on the crib). At 12:15am, after an hour of letting her get her anger and frustrations out, she really started to cry. Typically a mother can distinguish her child's cries... Boogie has a "mommy milk" cry, a "I'm in pain" cry, a "I'm not getting my way" cry, and her hilarious fake cry (which I really need to video tape...). The cry she had at this point was the "I just need you mommy" cry. Huge tears pouring down her face, plopped in the middle crib looking defeated... she was finally ready for my cuddles. I was so relieved. I hate when she gets to the point where my cuddling doesn't help her. So, I grabbed my girl out of her crib, held her close, nursed her to her heart's content... and she was asleep. Dreamy, lips still puckered as if still nursing, hands above her head, sprawled out and completely asleep. Thank you GOD.

I truly believe that if I had continued to let Boogie cry she would have continued to keep herself awake. I don't know why Boogie acted the way she did last night, normally I can calm her down a lot faster than I was able too... but for whatever reason last night was a rough night. I was hoping that after all that she would sleep for several hours, but after about 2 hours she was up again. Then another 2 hours... and then another 2 hours. So at 6am I gathered her in my arms, sleepily trudged into the living room, fell back into the recliner and the two of us slept til 8am this morning.

You can think what you want... I can't make you think otherwise, but I have high hopes that at some point this whole sleep thing will just click for my baby girl. It's obvious that she CAN and is able to sleep for long stretches, but at this point if she wants/needs mommy's comfort, if she wants/needs mommy's milk... then I will offer it to her. My mother says I was as rotten about sleep as Boogie is, and I love sleep now. So... even if it's not til my child is in her 20's... someday she WILL sleep!

1.02.2012

Starting 2012 With....

A double ear infection. Yea. Great fun! For the past two weeks Boogie has slowly gone from a decent sleeper to a screaming all night not wanting to sleep baby. Typically she'd go 3-4 (usually 4) hours between waking, then we had one night where she slept 8 hours, but every night since then she slowly started waking up more frequently. These past several nights have been awful. Waking up screaming, not wanting to be put down, digging in her ears (which isn't abnormal for her... she always messes with her ears when she's very sleepy, but obviously there was more to it this time), only sleeping while being held, not wanting to nurse like usual. It was horrible. I felt like a horrible mother. I felt hopeless... there was nothing I could do to comfort her. Then someone mentioned that she might have an earache. Bingo!

After last night I was desperate for answers. I was up until 1am walking, rocking, holding, nursing, bouncing... doing whatever I could to make her comfortable. I finally got her into her bed after that, but she woke up frequently. Luckily J didn't have to be at work until 9:30am so he got up a few times and helped me out when he could. It was a LONG night for all of us. This morning I made an appointment with the pediatrician... not one we had met yet, but I really wanted to have her ears checked. So, mom picked us up and we headed to the ped's office. She screamed when they took her temperature (in her ear), she didn't know this particular doctor so she freaked out when she touched her, she screamed when she checked her ears... it was NOT fun. But we had our answer. Double ear infection. After an entire year of only having two colds and yucky case of diarrhea.... Boogie decided to start the new year with a bang. Her first ear infections. Anyways... that's how it's going now. We got home around lunchtime and Boogie had taken a short nap in mom's car, so she was in no mood to take another. I finally got her to lay down with me in the recliner at 3:30 and we both took a LONG 2 hour nap. So... it's 8pm right now and J is still rocking her to sleep. She's not crying... just enjoying cuddles with her daddy I guess! If you don't know... Boogie typically falls asleep at 6:30, so it will be interesting to see how this late bedtime will affect the rest of our night! Well... please say a little prayer for our girl as she fights off this double ear infection!

Boogie's First Birthday

Boogie's birthday party went great! We were a little late finishing getting everything set up, but that worked out well because the kids played and my dad had time to get to the party after work! Despite the fact that apparently Boogie has a double ear infection (I'll post about that later) she did SO well! She loved all of the attention, playing with all the kids, and she thoroughly enjoyed her giant cupcake :)

Mom came early to help us set up the decorations... she tried to get a few pictures of Boogie during this but Boogie was constantly on the move!

Eating the letters to her banner.... good thing mom elaminated them!

This is Boogie's timeline banner, mom even elaminated this one and put rings in it afterwards so that Boogie can look through them whenever she wants! And we do.... a LOT.

I made the ribbon banner thing around her chair...

My friend Alecia made Boogie's cake... it was fantastic! I made the small cupcakes and Boogie's giant smash cupcake!

Boogie makes some great faces... and she really enjoyed all the yummy goodies we had at her party and that cupcake...

Happy Birthday Boogie!

And take note... my mom made her shirt :) She rocks!
