11 Months

I'm a day late... you'll forgive me right? So yea, Boogie is 11 months old as of yesterday. I can't believe it! It's been almost a year already?!?!? I have taken a few pictures of her, but mainly to see which outfits we want to use for our Christmas cards, so I won't be sharing any pictures except for our "every day" pictures once I get them uploaded. Boogie is turning into such a beautiful, sweet, and hilarious little girl. She consistently calls me 'mama' and is starting to connect J with 'dada', and much to my mother's dismay she still refuses to say 'nene'. LOL. (I think she's doing it on purpose!) She says 'hi!', 'hey', 'bye', 'kiki' (kitty), 'moo', 'boo' (boob or aka mommy milk), 'papa', 'baby', 'buhbye', 'bye'... and I think that's it. 'Moo' and 'baby' are her most recent, and EVERYTHING is 'baby', but if you ask her where her baby is she'll find her baby doll, lol!

Let's see... what else? She's starting to sleep much better, we have our rough nights obviously, but on most nights she only wakes up 2-3 times and sometimes she allows J to put her to sleep and doesn't nurse! She consistently nurses at LEAST once in the middle of the night, but other than that she does pretty well (and others she nurses EVERY wake up). She gets up between 5 or 6 unfortunately... I was praying for a late riser and thought she was going to be one since she slept til 9 when we co-slept! Oh well... at least I have more room to sleep now right? Naps aren't going as well, at this point I have pretty much given up on her napping in her crib because she doesn't sleep more than 20-45 minutes, she stays grumpy all day after such a crummy nap, and I don't get anything done anyways. So... she sleeps on me on the couch, and I usually nap with her since she wakes up so stinking early! While I wish she would sleep in her crib for naps, I know eventually she will and for now this is what's working and both mommy and baby are happier!

Boogie is still eating wonderfully, she pretty much eats whatever we eat with the exception of a few things like peanut butter, dairy (except baby yogurt and cheese), nuts, honey, and citrus (mainly because I just haven't bought any since it's kind of out of season, lol!). She gets water in a straw cup during meals and snacks and the rest of the time she nurses. Nursing varies for her... typically she nurses 6-8 times a day but because of some tummy issues this past week she's nursed a LOT more than that, but that means she's staying hydrated so that's okay for now!

At the moment Boogie is still in 18 month clothing, she still fits in some 12 month clothing but some (especially Carter's brand) fit strangely over her diaper. With the exception of those few 12 month items and a pair of 6-9 month jeans that fit PERFECT, she's in all 18 months with plenty of room to grow. She's not a walker yet so we don't do shoes often, but at the moment she's in a size 2, sometimes 3 depending on the type of shoe.

And speaking of walking.... Boogie is now taking 6-7 steps unassisted. It's amazing! She's so proud of herself and claps along with us when we cheer her on! She's so precious!

Favorite toys... I'll just post pics of her favorites!
This is Abby, she's from the Pottery Barn Kids

Who doesn't like Veggie Tales? Boogie loves the star (it sings) and the cow the best. (Hence her new "moo" word)

And Boogie's favorite book... she loves to kiss the babies!

Poop Happens.

Yea, I said poop. I don't curse, otherwise I'd say something else! I have never been more sick of changing poopy nasty diapers than this week... I have even been tempted to just go buy a box of disposables until this tummy thing is OVER! But I KNOW that those sposies would never hold all this poo like her cloth do. Ay yi yi. I have gone through more cloth this week than when Boogie was a newborn... I've washed 4 loads of diapers already this week.... and on a normal week I'd have just now washed a 3rd load.... but today. I'll be washing the 5th load. Ew. What's worse is that Boogie NEVER poops at night, but now because of this bug or whatever it is she has, she sleeps a 4-5 hour stretch (which is AWESOME), wakes up to nurse, and then poops. Then what does she do? She's up for the day... there's no getting this girl back to sleep. So we've been up since 4am, I've got a load of clothes washing... and as soon as those are done, her next load of diapers will be washed. Boogie's watching a Veggie Tales movie while I drink a glass of water and pretend it has loads of caffeine in it and pray that in about an hour or two we can both lay on the couch and take a long LONG nap.

Five Question Friday

1. Is there a special dish you prepare that you are famous for?
According to my husband... Broccoli Cheese Casserole (courtesy of The Pioneer Woman... that woman can COOK!)

2. Are you (did you) go Black Friday shopping?
Heck no. No. No. And no again. I'll pass, really. If I had any desire to snag any deals I'd do so online!

3. What are your strangest holiday traditions?
I don't know if any of our traditions are strange... we put our tree up on Thanksgiving (with the exception of last year and this year.... think huge and pregnant and wanted it DONE last year... and too much going on this year, so we put it up last week instead), we buy a Christmas book to read on Christmas Eve every year... and we get Christmas pj's. None of those are weird... lol.

4. Pecan or pumpkin pie?
Pumpkin.

5. When will you put up your Christmas tree?
We put it up last weekend! Our tradition, as I stated before, is to do so on Thanksgiving, but we had too much going on! So it's up, and gated off so that Boogie can't touch it, LMBO!

Boogie's First Thanksgiving

My little one is still a bit under the weather, but despite all that she was such a good girl today! I cooked most of our Thanksgiving meal at mom's, and she cooked a TON of desserts! Anyways, Boogie enjoyed her first turkey day and while she is still on a "BRAT" diet until her tummy feels better, she did get a little bit of turkey and apple crisp! Overall a wonderful day! Boogie also got to wear her turkey dress that Nene made!

And the only reason that bow stayed on her head for so long was because Nene wouldn't let go of her hands, lol!

11.22.2011

Long Week

So far this week has been LONG. And yea, it's just barely Wednesday. My poor Boogie has some kind of stomach bug so we've had a lot of firsts this week... I'm sure you're dying to know what those were. First time pooping in the tub (and let's just say it wasn't pretty), first major blow out in a cloth diaper (boy do I love cloth diapers.... seriously), and Boogie's learned to say baby. There's a good one at least!

Anyways, it's been a rough week with Boogie not feeling well and I'm still trying to get over this cold. J is back to work after his long week off and I'm missing him when he's gone! He is so wonderful and helpful... he let me sleep in EVERY morning last week. It was AMAZING. And I don't have a graceful way to end this short rambling... so goodnight!

MAYBELLINE GIVEAWAY UPDATE

The giveaway has been extended and I have added Rafflecopter, a SUPER easy way to enter the giveaway! If you have already entered your entries still count, and you can get ADDITIONAL entries by also entering via Rafflecopter! Good luck!

11.18.2011

Five Question Friday

1. Do you have a go to song that always puts you in a good mood?

2. Are you a real Christmas tree kind of person or do you go with a real fake one?
Real real real. And I have a fake one up. Ay yi yi. When we lived in TN we weren't allowed to have a real tree in our apartment so we purchased this fake one. It really is a pretty tree... but it's just not the same. And I didn't want to deal with pine needles and sap... and watering... and vacuuming this year. (I mean the pine needles every day, I do vacuum sometimes lol).

3. What are you thankful for?
Today I'm thankful that it doesn't matter whether YOU think co-sleeping, cloth diapering, babywearing, breastfeeding (in public without a cover or WITH a cover... geez), baby led weaning, extended rear facing... or whatever they heck else gets on people's nerves about me.... what matters is that I'm doing what's best for my child. She's healthy, happy, and spoiled rotten. So yea. I'm thankful for my FREEDOM.

4. Which fashion fad from the past do you wish you could wear today?
Um. Poodle skirts. Mhmm. Saddle shoes, scarf tied around my pony tail. I could pull it off, lmbo.

5. Do you wait until the "low fuel" light comes on before you fill up the gas tank?
LOL, yep. Honestly, we don't pay attention, and we usually notice when it's RIGHT above Empty. Our car doesn't have a "low fuel" light... or a dinger thing to alert us. We probably need one....

DON'T FORGET TO ENTER THE MAYBELLINE GIVEAWAY!!!!!!!

CLOSED!!!!!! Maybelline Baby Lips & Lots of Lashes Mascara.... with a GIVEAWAY!

As a BzzAgent I am given the opportunity to try and test out new and exciting products... and today I get to share with YOU one of these great products! But we'll get to the giveaway at the end of this blog!

First up is the Baby Lips Lip Balm... it is AMAZING. I'm a Burt's Bee's girl, and I have to say that is a great substitute, maybe even a replacement! It goes on incredibly smooth, it keeps my lips moisturized and soft ALL day, and my lips have yet to get chapped in this chilly weather! I was given 5 different lip balms to try including Quenched, Pink Punch, Cherry Me, Peppermint, and Peach Kiss. Quenched is a tint free balm with a fruity scent, it's one of my favorites! Pink Punch is a medium pink tinted balm, the color is GREAT and the scent reminds me of lemonade. Just a hint of pink to brighten your lips with all the perks of a lip balm. Cherry Me is my least favorite of the bunch, I don't wear a lot of tinted gloss or lipstick, and this is the balm with the most intense color. It's RED, and it goes on and makes your lips RED... yea, not my thing, but it smells heavenly! Peppermint is another tint free balm, and with Christmas just around the corner the scent is PERFECT! Last, but not least, is Peach Kiss. It's tinted with a peachy pinkish orange... that's the best way to describe it really, but it goes on without much of a tint. It has more of a nice shimmer and like all the rest the peachy scent is delish!

Facts about Baby Lips Repairing Lip Balm (taken Official Bzz Agent Guide):
  • renews lips to their natural condition in four weeks
  • combines 8 hours of hydration with an optional color tint
  • available in 2 clear varieties (as I mentioned above, these include Quenched and Peppermint) and 4 tinted varieties (I tried all but Grape Vine)
  • clinically proven to provide comfort and relief to stressed, dry skin
  • protects against damage from harmful UVA/UVB rays
  • available at mass retailers for $3.99
This lip balm is phenomenal, it has shea butter to help repair damaged lips become soft and moisturized again, a vitamin complex to help restore cells, and centella that aids in plumping and hydrating your lips naturally!

Next up is the Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara. What make up I do wear always consists of mascara... it's just my thing. I can't remember a time when I didn't see a pink tube of mascara in my mom's makeup and I have followed in her footsteps by using the same kind! I love how full this mascara makes my lashes, I don't get any clumps, and it reaches each and every lash with it's unique brush.

Facts about Great Lash Lots of Lashes (taken from Bzz Agent Guide):
  • American's most iconic mascara brand introduces a new innovative applicator brush - The Great Little Grabber!
  • Easily reaches the inner and outer corners of the eye
  • Builds your lash look with no clumps
  • Available in 3 washable shades
  • Available at mass retailers for $6.40

The shade I was given to try is Very Black, and not only did I love it and plan on buying some in the future... but I also have TWO to give away! That's right, TWO. Want to win one? It's easy to do!

The Giveaway!!!! CLOSED!

GIVEAWAY ENDS NOVEMBER 30, 2011 AT 12:01AM EASTERN TIME!!!!!!

Sick

No more blogging until this cold kicks the curb. Bah humbug.

11.11.2011

Five Question Friday

1. What's the last thing you spent too much money on?
School. College is WAY too expensive.

2. What celeb chef would you want to make you dinner?
Paula Deen... hands down. Down home, southern cooking, how could you go wrong? And if she was unavailable, I'd settle for Emeril, lmbo.

3. Where do you hide things when visitors pop over or do you let them see the real deal?
Ha... if you come here, unless you have impeccable timing, you're going to see the real deal. I don't have time to clean my house just because you're coming over... sorry! If it just so happens to be clean, well congratulations! You can see my floor!

4. Who is your oldest living family member?
I think Justin's nanny. Maybe? Or possibly one of my great aunts... not sure.

5. What is your favorite DQ Treat and/or Sonic drink combo?
I love DQ's moolatte's.... and my favorite drink combo at Sonic is a strawberry limeade or a strawberry sprite (essentially the same thing).

30 Day Photography Challenge: Day 5

Day Five: From a High Angle

Not so great picture of us... but it's 8pm. And we're pooped, lol.

11.10.2011

30 Day Photography Challenge: Day 3 & 4

Day Three: Clouds
I really was going to take a picture of clouds myself... but it's been cloudy since yesterday... so here's a beautiful picture someone else took LOL

Day Four: Something Green

Broccoli cheese soup... leftovers from dinner last night. Who doesn't love leftovers for lunch? And if you're slow... the BROCCOLI is green lol.

11.08.2011

30 Day Photography Challenge: Day 2

Day Two: What you wore today
Ok. I am so not taking a picture of myself right now... so I'll post online pics of what I'm wearing. I look like a hobo!

Stylish eh? Only differences... my tee says "Catamounts", my hoodie has white lettering, and my shorts have orange stripes on the sides. This is what a stay at home mom wears to bed and doesn't change out of until she has showered.... and today I still haven't showered. Ew.

11.07.2011

30 Day Photography Challenge: Day 1

Day One: Self-Portrait

I planned to wait until J got home so that I could take a picture of myself dressed, showered, and not looking like... well a stay at home mom I guess lol. I changed my mind though. This is me. At 5:30 in the morning after a LONG night of trying to get Boogie to stay asleep. Hair is messy, no make-up (not that I wear it that often), pj's on, and easily accessible "boos" for the girl baby. At least I managed to brush my teeth this morning, right? Right?!

11.06.2011

30 Day Picture Challenge

I found this challenge on Pinterest and I thought it might be fun to try... so... here's the challenge if you are interested in trying it!

Fun right? Anyways, I'm going to do that and I'm also going to be posting a review and GIVEAWAY soon with a product from Maybelline Makeup! So keep an eye out for that! Until then...

Random

Yesterday (Thursday) was a complete nightmare... well, maybe not a complete nightmare, but it definitely wasn't the best day either. Boogie is teething, we're pretty sure her canines are coming in, and she may just be on the brink of walking, but who knows with her. We know she'll just randomly start walking, that's how she does EVERYTHING! She pretty much cried and screamed all day, even with her baltic amber wrapped around her chubby little ankle, she was still miserable. Many times I just wanted to cry because there was nothing I could do! Now that the day is over and she's asleep (thank goodness) I am able to reflect on the day and remind myself that this time two years ago I thought I might not ever even get to experience my child teething or crying for me. So I'm thankful. Boogie is my world, she drives me batty some days, but she is a miracle! Now... if I could just get my brain to slow down enough for me to get some sleep when she does that would be another miracle!

In other news... we are going to see the inside of the house we're praying for this Saturday. Everything seems to be falling into place and I would love to get out of this loud apartment building. Moving is stressful, and I'm a little worried about how Boogie will handle it... but we're ready for the change and the challenge. So much has changed this past year it's unreal! We've grown our family by 2 little feet, adopted out 8 furry little feet to a wonderful couple who just adore them, J has finished his class (now we're just waiting for him to take his final and then his final final... or his certifying exam lol), and I'm figuring out this whole stay at home mom thing. I'm learning to love to cook, I don't dread cleaning as much as I did before... and I'm very VERY excited about the wonderful things I will be able to do with Boogie when we're able to start Tot School and Home School with her!

Anyways, enough of this random talk. I know my blog entries have all been random and jumbled lately, but really that's just how my brain is working lately, so bare with me!

Five Question Friday

1. What movie do you love to quote?
Oh man! How about I just give you some quotes and you can guess! Haha!
"I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries."
"Go and boil your bottoms, you sons of silly persons!"
"We are the Knights who say... NI!"

2. Have you ever ridden a motorcycle?
No, nor do I really have any desire too.

3. What's your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
Cuddle up with Boogie and take a nap... if Boogie naps on her own I read... or just do the usual cleaning and cooking and laundry. Sounds like fun, right?

4. Do you prefer a bunch of small gifts, or one really big (expensive) gift?
Depends... I usually ask for things I need, so for instance if we get this house we're looking at this weekend then we'll need a washer and dryer. So mom..... how about a washer and dryer for Christmas? LMBO!

5. Do you ever lose track of days and end up somewhere wrong?
Oh goodness. If you travel back to the first few months of Boogies life, and I believe you could actually do so in this blog as a matter of fact... you'd discover the many appointments I missed or showed up a week early too. I seriously did this several weeks in a row. Showed up a day late for Boogie's check up, showed up a week early to my check up. Ay yi yi!
